Ca man sold his daughter for beer

  Okay so I'm sure that headline caught everyones attention, however it is slightly more complicated then that.  Both the bride to be and the groom are from the state os Oaxaca in Mexico where arranged marriages are common, the money is intended as a dowry for the bride and the meat and beer are for the wedding reception.  The problem which occured is the father alerted the authroties when the soon to be newleyweds left town.  The daughter is only 14 and under the age of consent in california, mind you the girl entered the arrangement willing.  So now all these groups are "weighing in" on the situation, and quiet frankly they have no understanding of the culture practices of this particular group.  The police in the area are actually more understanding of the situation then the activst groups who are speaking out against it.
